Calculation Packages and Job Set-up Drawings We create clear, comprehensive calculation packages under the (EOR) and the... supervision of licensed Professional Engineers. These packages are easy to understand for both the Engineer of Record (EOR) and the fabricator, ensuring seamless communication and adherence to project specifications. Our job set-up drawings guide fabricators through project-specific connections, allowing for modifications that best fit their shop standards and equipment. These drawings include OSHA requirements such as erection aids, safety cable requirements, and column lifting devices. Additionally, they cover job sequencing, perimeter conditions, and other crucial details, ensuring smooth coordination between the fabricator, erector, and EOR from the start, preventing miscommunication later on. Estimating Support Our engineering department assists in developing general connection concepts during the estimating phase to produce more accurate fabrication estimates and avoid misunderstandings about the connections shown on design drawings. Upon request, we provide preliminary connection calculations for column stiffening, doubler plate requirements, gusset plate thicknesses, and weld size, helping you deliver precise estimates. Field Assistance and Value-Added Engineering We quickly and efficiently resolve complex field issues with calculated solutions, ensuring uninterrupted erection progress. Additionally, we offer value-added engineering services, including alternative design suggestions to optimize efficiency—such as substituting columns to avoid doubler plates or recommending alternative perimeter details and structural designs.

Unlike traditional construction, the contractor is also responsible for the design, following a design-build approach. This method is particularly well-suited for industrial buildings and warehouses due to its cost-effectiveness, speed of construction, and flexibility. The rapid construction process is made possible because the structural components—beams and columns—are fabricated in the factory while the foundations and floor slab are being prepared on-site. Once the site is ready, the columns are delivered, lifted into place by cranes, and bolted together. Additionally, these buildings can be dismantled and relocated, offering further adaptability.

Upon request, Conch Engineering provides estimating services for clients by taking design drawings and modeling... the structural steel, applying connections to generate an accurate material take-off. If miscellaneous steel is required, we can model and break it out separately. We utilize SDS2 or Tekla software and export files compatible with Fabsuite, Fabtrol, and many other platforms that accept KSS, XSR, or similar file formats. Additionally, we provide a 3D PDF file for customer use, which can be shared with prospective clients during the bidding process.
